IDLEC-2018 BRIDGING THE GAP

2nd International Dental Lab Expo & Conference, a one of its kind event held at HITEX, Hyderabad, the city of Sultans, on 21 & 22 April, 2018 marked a yet another milestone at the conception and organisation. This unique Expo and conference was inaugurated on the 21st of April by Mr. Guvvala Balaraju MLA of Achampet. The event opened its gates to immeasurable knowledge from esteemed panel of speakers from around the globe. Envisioned by Mr. Manzar Naqvi, the novel idea of bridging the gaps between the dental technicians and the clinicians, reached beautiful heights under the able guidance of Dr. Mahendranadh Reddy, Conference Chairman, Dr. Karunakar Organising Chairman, Dr. Manesh Lahori, Conference Secretary, Dr. Hasan Sarfaraz, Scientific Chairman, Dr. M. Shiva Shankar, Scientific Co-Chairman, Mr. T. Srinivas Reddy, Organising Secretary, Mr. M. Rajkumar, Trade Chairman. The event was fully supported by All Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Dental Laboratories, All India Dental Technicians Association, West Bengal Dental Technicians Welfare Association, Tamilnadu Dental Technicians Association, Maharashtra Dental Mechanics Association and Gujarat Dental Lab Owners Associations.

Over the years we have taught our clinicians, it was now established to teach the heroes, behind the sculptures. The prime focus was laid on learning the newer trends like CAD/CAM, STL forms, model creation, 3D printing, and ceramics including build ups, staining and glazing. The technicians were trained for exceptional service and support from the masters. More than fifteen speakers and many hands on courses and workshops had been planned to highlight the newer techniques that helped the participating technician to advance standards within dental technology for the benefit of the oral healthcare of the nation. 

The trade comprised of latest technologies and services in and around the world with special emphasis on how to use the right machine tool for the laboratory and how to successfully mill implant abutment or bars in Titanium and Cobalt chromium also characterization was made easy by teaching colour characterization for acrylic and composite indirect restorations, basic protocol for aesthetic and functional wax up in Prosthetics, newer materials like PEEK and their advantages over Titanium bars.

Companies from Spain, Turkey, Italy, Korea, China, Germany and India have taken part as exhibitor. In visitors, apart from all across India, technicians from Saudi Arabia, Nepal, Bangladesh, Srilanka, Egypt, Nigiria ect. visited the Show.

In the present day scenario such events are highly appreciated awaiting a brighter future.
